Part personal testimony, part journey of self-discovery and transformation, this book is for anyone who has navigated adverse childhood experiences and desires to move past limiting beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that may still linger. Let this book be your guide to unmasking your hurt one chapter at a time!
This book is a mixture of Ronnie's personal experiences with childhood abuse, trauma, and the process used to transform her life. Her intimate sharing is sprinkled with scripture readings for those who are saved but still struggle. It will enlighten and encourage you to move toward freeing yourself bit by bit from the beautiful person you know but has yet to be introduced to the world. Through journaling prompts, you will be inspired to be honest with yourself about past hurts and destructive habits, while gaining practical tools to help you show up unapologetically, without the masks to achieve the personal freedom your soul yearns for. Here's what you will learn:
1. WHY me…? Understanding who you are and the purpose for which your Creator made you is a critical foundational understanding you must work to become clear on. You will have opportunities to evaluate the importance of your faith as you gain hope for your future.
2. Now WHAT…? You will be encouraged to take a journey after every chapter. Be prepared to be strengthened as you authentically own your trauma experiences. By answering questions and journaling your hidden thoughts, you are working to release years of shame, guilt or regret that causes you to mask your greatness.
3. But HOW…? Practical tools you can use repeatedly as you practice being fully honest with yourself and others in a healthy way.
"It is a poignant and honest book about embracing your hurt and healing. Chapter by chapter the reader gets steps on how to follow the path to heal. By using the tools that the author displays in each chapter and the appendix, readers can develop their own path to healing and acceptance."
—Sheryl Womble
"This is the book I wish I had when I started my healing process. With raw vulnerability, Ronnie shares her personal story to offer hope and wisdom to fellow survivors. Its message empoweringly demonstrates that we are more than what happened to us."
—Elona Washington, #MeToo activist and author
Orphaned as a child, raised in the foster care system, and becoming a teenage mother, Ronnie knows the effects of complex trauma. With an ACE score of ten, she has navigated abandonment, neglect, childhood abuse, sex trafficking, attachment disorder, depression, and anxiety. Through many years of counseling, support groups, a loving support system and the help of her faith in Jesus Christ she now lives a life of wellness.
She’s earned master’s degrees from both Dallas Theological Seminary and Drake University; Ronnie knows the lack of access to mental health resources is a problem in the world. She resonates with the reality of covering (masking) unprocessed pain with impostor behavior.
Ronnie’s journey of acceptance and forgiveness lead to learning emotional regularity and unlearning toxic belief systems. Learning intelligent ways to manage challenges and implement healthy tools to effectively handle ‘triggers’ is what she desires to shares with others who struggle with trauma wounds. Her belief is: healing is like an onion, a process with many layers.
A wife, mother, grandmother, Certified Mental Health Life Coach, and Sexual Assault Advocate, Ronnie offers her lived experiences as hope for those on the healing path.
